Erik Larson has delivered yet another slice of History that reads like a novel. His talent lies in the details he gives the readers details that most would gloss over. This leads to a read in which history leaps of the page right into the readers imagination.
Dead Wake tells the story of the sinking of a neutral US ocean liner the Lusitania full of passengers, by a German U-Boat in 1915. It tells the tale of both Captains, crews and passengers as they set of on their their respective journeys. It was a journey that would be remembered in history for all the wrong reasons.
The parallel narratives fill the reader with anticipation as the inevitable event draws closer. Erik Larson has triumphed again in this excellent piece of Historic writing.
